How to Install Hardwood Floors

A professional installation means you can be assured your hardwood floors are being properly maintained.  First, we do an in-home measure and a moisture test. Moisture testing is important because if hardwood is installed over a subfloor that has high levels of moisture can be damaged over time. Our installers prepare the subfloor to make sure it's ready for installation by making sure it is dry, flat, and free of imperfections.

Solid and engineered hardwood floors can be installed in different ways. Engineered hardwood features a floating floor system, and can lock together, so no adhesives are needed. Solid hardwood is glued or nailed down for a permanent install so they planks do not shift. It is important to leave a gap between the base of the walls and the floors because hardwood naturally expands over time. Once all of the planks are in place and installed, we'll check the surface to make sure there aren't any gaps between planks.

Where Can Hardwood Be Installed?

Hardwood flooring adds warmth and style to your home. The perfect places to install hardwood include living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms. Solid hardwood is limited when it comes to where it can be installed, but engineered hardwood is more versatile. You can install engineered hardwood in kitchens, hallways and even basements.

You should avoid installing any type of wood flooring in bathrooms and laundry rooms because of high levels of moisture and humidity.
